Lay back, act natural, and let’s take some pictures

This is about You. Forget about feeling awkward and stiff in front of the camera. Imagine going on a walk with an old friend, who just happens to have a camera with them. Once we get those few posed shots out of the way, my process is free and flowy, and my only goal is to capture your true self.

FAQ

This is my first photoshoot, what should I know?

Have a question? I've got you covered. See below for the most commonly asked questions. Don't see what you're looking for? No problem. Reach out to me directly and I'd be happy to chat.

What should I wear?

I will provide you with a complimentary styling guide. But in a nutshell, dress for the season, match your outfits to the season and location, incorporate texture and movement, go with complimentary colors such as earth tones, accessorize, and most importantly ensure you feel comfortable in your clothes.

What should I avoid wearing?

Stay away from logos and too many patterns as they can be a distraction in your photos. Avoid neon colors as they create a color cast on your skin. Don't wear matching colors, instead wear complimentary colors in group photos. When everyone wears the same color you will start to blend into one another. For men, keep phones, wallets, and keys out of pant pockets, otherwise, it will show up in your photos. For women, baggier is not better. Accentuate, don't hide. For babies and toddlers, avoid visible diaper or undergarment by throwing on some bloomers or leggings.

Should I bring anything?

I recommend a change of clothes, especially for families or if we're shooting at the beach. Towels or wipes in case we get real adventurous (which we likely will!). Snacks, water, and a favorite toy for little ones. Comfty shoes for walking depending on location. A bag or backpack to store your items.

Can I bring props?

Absolutely! I've done shoots with classic cars, pets, skateboards, ballet shoes, and more! Go for subtle things that accentuate your personality, such as a musical instrument, bike, clear umbrella, surfboards, and letterman jackets.

What time does the photoshoot begin?

I typically shoot during golden hour, which is about 45 minutes before sunset. This time provides the best lighting for portraits. Depending on the location and the number of people, my sessions start anywhere from 2 hours to 45 minutes before sunset.

Do you do newborn sessions?

I do newborn lifestyle sessions, which means I don't do any fancy wrappings with props. Instead, I focus on capturing the moments between you and your little one. It's an organic in-home session and it can be done in the nursery, your bedroom, the living room, or all three. No time or not in the mood to prep your home? No problem. Let's take it outdoors!

Do you do headshots?

Yes! I offer a variety of options for headshot. I personally love outdoor headshots with either nature or a cityscape background. However, I also offer classic headshots with a backdrop. There is an option to come to my in-home studio or I can come to you. There is a $25 travel fee and a 1 hour setup time.

How many pictures will I receive?

The package you choose will indicate how many pictures you will receive. Once a session is over I will generally send about 75+ photos, giving you the opportunity to select your photos, rather than me selecting for you. Want more photos than your package indicates? You aren't stuck with your package. You are welcome to upgrade your package for more photos.

What is the turnaround time for photos?

The typical turnaround time for photos is 1-2 weeks. During busy season (Oct - December), it is closer to 2 weeks.
